It’s finally here!! The official Alabama tailgate season kicks off on Saturday in Atlanta. These road games make tailgating a little harder. I know I don’t want to load my truck up and leave my gear at a hotel or sitting around Atlanta for someone else to decide they like it better than I do. So, for games like this I prefer something simple that can be made ahead of time and then finished off quickly at the tailgate.
Though we have had a pretty mild August here in Alabama, the first few games are always difficult to cook for because of the heat. I like to have light dishes that help compliment the heat. I also wanted to feature some local Alabama beer for this recipe (and am trying to do so for each game).
I will be watching this game from the beach, so that put seafood on my mind. Shrimp are a great summer food and are also good when cold if they are paired with the right food. So, I decided to share one of my favorite summer recipes. This dish can be easily made ahead of time and thrown together at the tailgate. Get the recipe and details right here Shane’s Smoked Shrimp with Goat Cheese and Peach Preserves. Give this dish a try with Back Forty’s Fence Post Session Ale. If you are not a beer fan, it pairs very well with a nice chilled rose (yes Joel Jackson, rose).
Give it a try and let me know what you think!!

Shane
